The Story

Our true Bordeaux Right Bank wine. Merlot with a touch of Cabernet Franc. This wine is gorgeously fruit forward with a core of minerality.

Great wine comes from great grapes. We take extra care in preserving the flavors of the fruit during our winemaking process. Each pick is fermented separately  in small custom made stainless steel tanks.

Blankiet Estate Rive Droite: The Aristocratic Right Bank Soul of Yountville

Born from Claude and Katherine Blankiet’s profound reverence for Pomerol and Saint-Émilion, Blankiet Estate Rive Droite stands as one of the most compelling, serious, and aristocratically styled Merlot-dominant masterworks produced in the New World. Sourced from the clay-loam and volcanic parcels of Paradise Hills Vineyard’s western Yountville bench, the wine—typica...

Vintage 2022

California 2022, The Tale of Two Harvests

With climate variability as the new normal, Napa Valley grape growers aim to be resilient and adaptable. Their preparation and experience paid off in 2022 as growers faced triple digit heat over five days in September quickly followed by rain that brought harvest to a sudden halt. Winemakers are calling the vintage “the tale of two harvests,” making it one of the more unique vintages in recent history...

Written Notes

An exceptional triumph over intense September heat spikes—where the estate’s extensive canopy louvers and fruit-zone misting systems preserved freshness while neighboring estates struggled—the 2022 Rive Droite (98.5% Merlot, 1.5% Cabernet Franc) delivers surprising delineation and vitality. Saturated ruby-plum in color, the bouquet unfolds with luscious Morello cherries, dark wild berries, and baking spices, layered with licorice, bitter cocoa, and crushed volcanic gravel. Full-bodied and remarkably supple, it glides across the palate with seamless, glossy tannins and an expansive core of black and red fruit fruit. While rounder and more generously textured in its youth than the 2021 or 2023, it retains a lingering line of mineral-driven acidity that guarantees delicious immediate enjoyment alongside two decades of cellar potential.

  • 96p

A blend of 98.5% Merlot and 1.5% of Cabernet Franc.

Deep, dark garnet-purple colour. Plush and open nose with complex aromas from spicy and toasty notes to cedary, blueberries, raspberries and wild strawberries.Full-bodied palate shows vivid acidity, dense yet bit tight tannins and ripe red and dark berry flavours. Refined and harmonious finish, which still holds back a bit. Keep for 5-7 years. If served now, decant 8 hours in advance and serve with roasted saddle of lamb. – JL 96+p (Nov 2024)
