Château Léoville Barton 2020 Barrel Sample (Saint-Julien); 97–99 points. The wine shows both elegance and great richness. It is a poised and ripe wine, full of impressive black fruits and generous tannins. The fine structure gives considerable potential for the long term.

Ruby. Scented, deep, nuanced, anise, blackberries and spices nose, fruit driven and layered, intense. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, dark fruits, anise, spices, liquorice, deep and layered, a fuller bodied Léoville Barton yet retains liveliness and vigour. Such length! 94-96

  • 96p

Dark purple red colour with violet hue and black core. Aromatic nose with multi-layered fruit reminiscent of blackcurrants, sweet elderberries and sloe, backed by hints of cocoa and oriental spices. On the palate well balanced with juicy fruit, repeating the flavour of the nose, elderberries, blackcurrants and fresh sloe. Ripe and  velvety tannins, fine acidity, an excellent wine with freshness, depth and excellent length.
