Bright mid gold; fresh, vivid, still youthful, but refined, citrus and mineral nose - persistent, complex, fine and with a subtle oak cedar; very nicely balanced, concentrated, vigorous middleweight. Taut, dry, minerally and incisive, with real definition, finesse and tenacity across the palate, if still slightly austere. Citrus backed, minerally flavours, top 1er cru complexity, and great length on the finish. A longer, more incisive and complex wine than the Puligny Champgain ,for example; exhaustingly good, still very youthful, but with great potential.
Fullish colour. Slightly more developed than the 1996. Full, rich and vigorous on the nose. Very lovely fruit. Lots of depth and energy. Full bodied and meaty. Gently oaky. Now à point. Not quite as much grip at the end as I would have expected, so it is not going to last for decade. But a lovely opulent, fresh, profound, harmonious example. Very typical Genevrières and 1995. Very fine.
