Written Notes

Not totally attractive (to me) frosted bottle for this blend of different vintages – 1991 and 1994 in this case – emulating the old Spanish tradition of calling wine after its years of ageing rather than its specific vintage. This is ‘the cellarmaster’s blend’ although there are between 14 and 15,000 bottles so that’s a thirsty cellarmaster. Released 2007.

Very deep healthy crimson with a lovely fresh kick of lively fruit. Fine, tense , taut – very difficult to believe this is so old – it tastes much more youthful than the 1996 Unico.

90, 91 and 94 vintages in the blend. Ruby. Red berries, vanilla, spices, exotic, floral, rich and nuanced nose. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fruity, rounded, liquorice, blueberries and darker fruits, nuanced, rich and long. 94
