The Story

La Mission Haut Brion is situated in Bordeaux' southern suburb, Talence. From 1919 and until 1983, it was Woltner family, who had owned this property. Under Woltner's reign, La Mission Haut Brion experienced one of its greatest period with string of fine vintages and was considered then as fully on the level with First Growths and sometimes even better than these. In 1983, owners of Haut Brion purchased La Mission Haut Brion and today its Jean...

Wine Information

Everything started off for an extraordinary year: a very hot June (20.5 C), a very hot July (20.6 C) and a very hot August (20.6 C). But as it often is in Bordeaux, September makes the difference, and on the 4th the rain and cold began. It rained for 22 days. The result was a very good vintage but not a great one.

Vintage 1952

Bordeaux by Tb: The recovery after the Second World War was slow and winegrowers had many challenges to overcome. Their production facilities were in poor condition and there was no capital for investments. Written Notes

It was another winning showing for La Miss with the paired 1952 La Mission Haut Brion. Its nose was great, with lots of asphalt melting out of it. This was another rich and tasty wine that was big and black with its midnight fruit. There was hot summer sweat here, even though it was the heart of December (95).

French negociant bottling. Medium red. Splendid intensity of ripe blackcurrants on the nose and palate. Concentrated, quite young on the palate, dense, strong structure and long aftertaste. Simply terrific wine, which easily can improve. 6-8 more years in the cellar.
