A cold winter and a mild late spring cued for a perfect June allowing early and fast flowering. Outstanding weather conditions prevailed and the season went on without dramatic turns. As in the case of almost all organically vinified Chardonnay champagnes, the aroma of banana becomes very dominant. It is of course very good, but the brain reacts instinctively to the fact that banana is normally a simple wine aroma and a certain scepticism is aroused. Apart from that this wine is impressive, as it should be with this masterly vinification and perfect vintage in combination.
3000 flaskor gjorda av detta kraftigt ekiga vin. Det har hänt grejor hos Duval-Leroy. Trépails mytomspunna chardonnay är sällan man hittar i så här ren form. Byn ger ett vinöst djup som skvallrar om det geografiska ursprunget samtidigt som det i vissa händer tydligen kan bevara sin elegans i en skrud av gräddbakelser.
TASTINGNOTE Som nästan alla organiskt vinifierade chardonnay-champagner blir bananaromen väldigt dominant. Den är förvisso mycket god, men hjärnan reagerar instinktivt på att banan är en enkel vinarom i normala fall och viss skepsis uppstår. I övrigt är vinet imponerande som sig bör med denna mästerliga vinifikation och perfekta årgång i kombination
