The Story

Charles Heidsieck was one of the very first Champagne Houses to demonstrate its passion for Chardonnay by producing a Blanc de Blancs in its 1949 vintage. Through this cuvée, relaunched in 2018, two of the House’s areas of expertise come together: the production of great white wines and the art of blending a large selection of wines from different years and terroirs.

From the bottle to glass, this champagne is a pale, crystalline gold colou...

Charles Heidsieck Blanc de Blancs 96 points / This brand new wine follows the Charles Heidsieck non-vintage blanc de blancs tradition that was initiated back in 1947. The aimed style is sumptuous as one can expect from the house but cellar master Cyril Brun has also wanted to highlight freshness of youth in it to make a clear difference to age-mellowed and concentrated the Blanc des Millénaires. Pure and pristinely fruity, coffee and cream laden nose with ample lemony floral fruitiness with a touch of pepper. The palate expresses more minerality and salinity increasing towards the back palate. The wine hides its 10g/l dosage feeling perfectly balanced and fresh, even a little tight at this point. Stunningly creamy texture with minuscule gently bubbles waking up the palate. Long, driven palate with impeccable precision.

Inside Information

THE SPIRIT OF CHARLES, THE CHARACTER OF A GENTLEMAN.

Gentleman and entrepreneur in the audacious 19th century, Charles Heidsieck was heir to a Champagne fortune, a rebel with an extraordinary thirst for adventure. At age 29, he founded a Champagne House in his image: authentic, distinguished and which stands out among all others. In keeping with this spirit, his grandson Charles-Marcel created a Blanc de Blancs, consolidating the style of a House that manifests itself across all varietals.

100% CHARDONNAY, TAUT AND FULL-BODIED. GENEROUS AND FULL-BODIED: an aromatic complexity that is the hallmark of Charles Heidsieck wines.

ELEGANT TAUTNESS: a velvety effervescence, thanks to 25% of reserve wines and prolonged ageing in the chalk cellars.
