The Story

These cuvées are truly exceptional, as they are made up solely of wines from the same year. These years (1983, 1985, 1990, 1995, 2004, 2006, 2007) are recognized as extraordinary by our cellar masters and selected with extreme care for their unusual maturation capacities.

Blanc de Millénaires is a masterpiece cuvée from the Côte des Blancs in a legendary vintage.
17 years’ worth of complexity and yet so fresh.

Vintage 1985

Severe winter temperatures and spring frosts did great damage, leaving many in the region unhopeful of a good year. The destruction was excessive especially in the northern Montagne de Reims, in the hillside vineyards west of Reims and in the Aube. Written Notes

Disgorged 1994. Winter frost killed some vines and then a heatwave in summer caused double concentration, including that of acidity.
Orangey gold. Lively and powerful nose that reminds me of early Australian Chardonnay! (Or perhaps the yeast that was used for them.) Plus earthy, undergrowth flavours. This vintage is much fresher than the 1990. Very lively and racy for its age. Long and just starting to dry out but very good. Has lasted well and taken on many layers. Some richness at first but very clean, crisp and fresh on the finish. Long. Dried citrus peel. Super-clean. Dramatic wine compared with the complete classiness of the 1983.

Lemon yellow. Some minerals, light smoky notes, spices, detailed, elegant, nuanced, lovely nose. Fresh acidity, apples, nuanced, detailed, lovely nose, detailed, refreshing, long. 94

Light, green colour. Fresh, intense, vibrant nose with herbaceous green coffee nose. Dry, vivid, intense, juicy, spicy, concentrated, minty and lean fresh fruit finish. Rich,  long and lingering. – JL – Aug 25, 2018
