The Story

Between the estates of Pétrus and La Fleur-Pétrus, amid vineyards, stands a stone house with closed shutters. The road that winds to the house between the vine rows has no signs or indications as to the name of the place. The construction looks more like a maintenance shed for the neighbouring estates than the main building of a winery. Profondeur vertigineuse en bouche, avec une texture oscillant entre le soyeux et le satiné. L’aromatique se met en place et s’exprimera sans doute rapidement avec
une harmonie unique dans l’appellation.

Dark ruby, opaque core, purple reflections. Fine oak savouriness, black cherries and liquorice, blackberries, cloves, candied orange zest. Complex on the palate, deep and very full-bodied, dark fruit, vivid tannins, salty and mineral; a mighty iron fist in a silk glove. Great length and savouriness, earthy and stony, lingers for a long time, still largely charm-free in the finish, a sure promise for the future.

The fruit in this is superb, with an al-dente character to the grapes that were perfectly ripe when picked. Surprising openness on the nose, showing blackberries, violet, caramel and cedar with just a hint of chocolate. Turns to tobacco and earth. Medium to full body with creamy tannins and a vivid finish. Pristine through to the end. 54% bouchet (cabernet franc) and 46% merlot. 98-99

Lafleur: 54% de Bouchet + 46% Merlot. It is dense, multidimensional, aromatic, and has power mixed with elegance, finesse, and tenderness. Velvety texture. You really don’t feel tannin and oak on the palate. Perfect acidity and awesome midpalate sum it all up perfectly. It is more accessible than the muscular 2022. Fabulous stuff! 98+p.
