The Story

The Léglise family from Libourne founded what is now Château L’Evangile. They were actively involved, around the middle of the 18th century, in building the Pomerol vineyard. L’Evangile appeared in the 1741 land registry under the name of Fazilleau.

Written Notes

An wine with class, showing a certain opulence. 87% Merlot and 13% Cabernet Franc make the blend of 2005 displaying a ripe purple red colour with garnet red hue and black core. Opulent character on the nose with balmy notes, blackberries, crushed blackcurrants, prunes and mild spices. On the palate well structured with fine roasting aroma, hints of dark chocolate and mild spices, mature tannins with almost sweet character. A wonderful wine with great depth and length, complexity and elegance. Very promising.

Deep ruby, vanilla and lots of tobacco, dark berries, plums and blackberries. Leaner body than you expect from the nose, great balance, good acidity, a bit short finish. There is something that just do not swipe me of my feet with this estate for some reason.....88
