The Story

Palmer and its Alter Ego are two nuanced expressions of the Château Palmer terroir, two interpretations of the variations offered by the climatic conditions of the vintage. These variations can be likened, in music, to symphonic pieces and their jazz adaptations, in the visual arts, to a classic painting and a contemporary rendering of the same subject, and, in literature, to an epic narrative in alexandrine verse and a prose poem.

Vintage 2016

Bordeaux 2016 in review “A paradox”

by Andrew Caillard MW

The 2016 Bordeaux vintage will be remembered as one of the great years of the 21st century. I haven't been this excited about the prospects of wines this young since the remarkable 2009 and 2010 vintages. At that time, China was at the zenith of its extraordinary rise of fine wines where the highest estates, particularly Château Lafite , had become a backwater currency. Each man a...

Written Notes

Good looking normal size bottle and in an perfect condition. Colour is ruby red, and looking clear and full. On the nose it is seductive and complex. The taste is round, fresh, fruity, elegant, and dry, warming, with medium tannin, with silky tannins, and average in acidity, medium-bodied, with perfectly balanced structure and developing. On the palate it is layered and has cassis, blackcurrant, mineral, chocolate and toasty flavours. The finish is long and gentle. This wine is excellent. I paid around 50-100€ a bottle. Perfectly stored bottles are still very worthy and will last well for another 5-10€ years, decant at least 30min before tasting and this is a good invest wine. Good value for money. I do recommend.

Dark purple red with violet hue and black core. Very intense aroma reminiscent of Morello cherries, dark chocolate. On the palate well structured with precise and mature tannins, Morello cherries and hints of cherry stone. Excellent length. 90
