The Dom Perignon Rose often does not perform well until around ten years of age, and the 1995 is revealing a bold, medium pink salmon color followed by broad berry notes intermixed with a smoky/earthy character. Rich, full-bodied, backward, and tannic, it should hit its peak in 2-3 years, and last for a decade thereafter.

The Story

Dom Pérignon Rosé is a tribute to Pinot Noir. To work with Pinot Noir continually requires excellence and humility. In that regard, Dom Pérignon Rosé is a paradox to the point of contradiction as it is the perfect balance of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Although it took over ten years to reach the light of day, the color of Dom Pérignon Rosé dares to express all the tension between youth and maturity, between exhibition and restraint.

Vintage 1995

A welcome relief after some difficult years in the region. Quantity-wise, it was the seventh high-cropping year in a row. But, in 1995, the quality also excelled, and particularly so for Chardonnay. There were significant frost damages during the spring and the warm but wet weather in the summer ignited mildew and rot problems. The vines cropped heavily and rigorous vineyard work and selection during harvest led to best results. Harvest commen...

Written Notes

This sensual, flower-meadow-scented, cream pastry wine needs many years to itself to enter into the loveliest, fully matured stage spiced with exoticism, but what does that matter? Let us be ravished by its hedonistic charm and drink the drops of pleasure in its tender youth.

Dom Perignon Rosé 1995 Open, intense and slightly developed nose with fresh berries, red currants, strawberries, anise, marzipan and fresh shellfish notes. Full, rich palate with very smooth, fruity flavors of red currants and strawberries as well as some nutty and mineral notes. Fresh acidity that balances the evident dosage into a long, fine finish. Good looking normal size bottle, is in a excellent condition and has by the neck level. Colour is salmon, and looking bright and medium. On the nose it is open, intense, complex and generous. The taste is vigor, and dry, low alcohol content, and high in acidity, medium-bodied, with perfectly balanced, well-structured structure and developing. On the palate it is layered and has bread, buttery, cherry, toasty and raspberry flavours. The finish is long and smooth. This wine is excellent. I paid around 200-500€ a bottle. Perfectly stored bottles are still very worthy and will last well for another 10-15 years, decant at least 5min before tasting and not a good invest wine. Good value for money. I do recommend.
