Viinin Kuvailu
The Story
Made exclusively from Pinot Noir, 80% of these grapes come from the Montagne de Reims area, and the remaining 20% come from the Marne Valley. The specific style and color is obtained by the addition of 9% of red wine, whose Pinot Noir grapes come from two plots on the Aÿ hillside called “La Côte” and “Meurtet”, both that have perfect exposure. After 4 years ageing in our cellars, its aromas have perfectly blended, and the Brut Rosé has a very subtle nose and a palate that shows remarkable power. A precise, full and ample flavor, complemented by the richness of full-bodied, ripe fruit, emulating a high class Pinot Noir.
Wine Information
Blind tastings with Deutz Champagnes must be easy since the color of the Deutz rosés are always very special in their brilliant salmon color. Also, the bouquet of the 2009 Brut Rosé is so delicately and invitingly fruity (pomegranate and raspberry) that there should be good chances to figure the Deutz out. Full-bodied and highly elegant on the palate, this is a full-bodied, fruit intense, slightly sweet, well balanced and structured, persistent Champagne of great finesse. Drink it now or in the next 2-3 year." ~ 91, Wine Advocate October 2015
"Deutz's 2009 Rosé is one of the highlights in this tasting. Silky and textured on the palate, the 2009 shows lovely focus, with plenty of bright red berry and stone fruit character. Mint and spice nuances are woven throughout, adding to the wine's overall complexity. The radiance of the vintage comes through nicely in this racy, super-expressive Rosé. Here, too, the wine's balance is impeccable. A Rosé of assemblage, the 2009 is 80% Pinot Noir (including 8% still Pinot) and 20% Chardonnay, from Aÿ, Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, Bouzy and Verzenay." ~ 93, Vinous July 2015
Vuosikerta 2009
This warm year started with a cold winter and mild spring temperatures. Early summer was variable but August and September provided ample sunshine and warmth contributing to fine grape health. Pinot Noir especially excelled. Grape harvest, of generally high sugar content yet soft acidity, started on September 8th. 2009 is a year of generous wines that showed well early. An apt example of a vintage of the recent era, in which retaining freshness poses more problems than attaining ripeness. Good grape health contributed to the overall quality, and despite the richness of the wines, heaviness did not end up being an issue. There is quite some heterogenity amongst the year's produce but the best seem truly age-worthy. The vintage's finest include Louis Roederer Cristal and Cristal Rosé, Dom Pérignon and Philipponnat Clos des Goisses.
