The 2005 vintage was a year of marked contrasts between seasons and regions. Following a fairly harsh winter, 2005 had a mild spring with relatively warm temperatures all year long. There was above average sunshine and a slight water deficit, as had been the case throughout the dry cycle of 2005/2004 and 2003. A really great wine. I got so excited when I opened it that I had to open a Krug Clos du Mesnil just to compare. I'd really like to have seen a careful use of small old barrels in the Krug manner with this amazing raw materials. I actually wonder if the vineyards are just as good? Out of this vintage has been developed the most ripe and concentrated grapes so far and the density is massive. Perhaps there is a risk of rapid maturation, however.
#thechampagnesommelier TASTING NOTE En årgång som inte riktigt passar Amour eller Deutz heller för den delen. Jag är som vanligt nyktert tveksam till de tropiska övertonerna i ’05:a. Detta var på pappret & på skrivbordsnivå debuten av Amour de Deutz Rosé. Men man drog tillbaka de 14 000 flaskorna. Man öppnade flaskorna och gjorde non vintage--rosé av dem.
