The Story

Produced from mostly Pinot Noir grown on Premier and Grand Cru vineyards from the Montagne de Reims, Ay and Mareuil-sur-Ay, with a touch of Chardonnay. Aged three years on its lees.

Reviews:

"A vibrant backbone of acidity defines this harmonious rose, with the satiny texture carrying a subtle mix of blood orange, slivered almond, pink grapefruit zest, and smoke notes.  Drink now through 2019." Wine Spectator  91 Points October 2016

"Antique pink in color and showing fine bubbles, the NV Deutz Brut Rosé offers a very clear and subtle bouquet of red berries, candied cherries, plums and pomegranate. Medium to full-bodied, firm and very elegant on the palate, this Champagne combines its serious character with great delicacy and fruit finesse. Made from Pinot Noir grands crus from the Montagne de Reims with a small portion of Chardonnay, the wine gets its unique color of blending in about 8% of red wine produced from old Deutz vines on the hill of Aÿ, particularly from a plot known as 'Meurtet.'” ~ 91, Wine Advocate October 2015

"The NV Brut Rosé is fabulous. A sweet, open bouquet leads to expressive fruit in this rich, textured wine. The Deutz Rosé is a serious wine that can be enjoyed as an aperitif, but it also has more than enough power in reserve to drink well at the dinner table. Floral notes reappear to round out the finish. The blend is 75% Pinot Noir and 25% Chardonnay. " ~ 91, Vinous December 2011

Written Notes

A new non-vintage rosé champagne with depth if as yet a rather too young Pinot character with 8% Aÿ Pinot for colour. Cherry and beetroot dominate over raspberry and strawberry up to now, but time will change all that and a warm vanilla-draped beauty is going to show itself in due course.

  • 81p

Bright rose colour with slightly orange hue. Elegant, slightly closed nose with restrained fruit, mallow flowery, pomegranate, raspberries, discreet minerality. On the palate very elegant, fine mousseux, ripe red berries, hints of beetroots, discreet spiciness. A fine rose coloured Champagne with good length and convincing fruit.
