The Story

Olivier Bernard's extensive project at Domaine de Chevalier has really come to fruition. After a bold and not to mention expensive re-planting program throughout the `80s and then a decade and a half of patience for the vines to gain maturity, we can really see the benefits. 2005, 2008, 2009 and now 2010 rank amongst the very best wines produced in this sprawling commune. Powerful but graceful, true to their terroir, and just so enjoyable to drink; this has become one of our 'must buy' estates. Olivier's wines offer 'super second' class at relatively affordable prices.

Dynamite! That is absolute perfection on the nose: wax, oak, honey, preserved lemon, ginger. Full, rich and lengthy. A shining star. Incredible layered persistence. What a stunner!

Flinty and stony with good layers of very discreet oak, fresh peach, mango and tropical yet fresh fruit. Ample and concentrated with exuberant fruit and a nicely firm fresh backbone, good extract, perfect oak integration and a very long almost saline finish. Great precision.

Tasted in February 2022. 70% Sauvignon + 30% Semillon. Alcohol is 14%. A dazzlingly fresh, sublime and dignified nose of flowers mixed with peaches and citron grass. Great presence of acidity. Lively, sophisticated and refined on the palate with awesome complexity, depth and length. I'd say a classic and highly stylish wine for the property. Amazing stuff!

70% Sauvignon, 30% Sémillon.
Smells rich and creamy from the oak but also fresh and lively with the citrus and herbal fruit character. Deep, rich, creamy and deliciously fresh and scented on the palate. Very good use of oak here to highlight the fruit but give a really good structure for ageing. (JH)

A wine of real personality, the 2019 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc has breadth and resonance to burn. Orchard fruit, citrus confit, white flowers, mint and chamomile nuances all flesh out in white that balances radiance with energy. I can't wait to see how the 2019 develops during its élevage; it is one of the most promising wines of the vintage. 92-94+

The 2019 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc was picked from 3 to 19 September and aged on the lees for 18 months in 35% new oak. It has a crisp, delineated nose that gains intensity with aeration, offering enticing aromas of kaffir lime, yellow plums and jasmine. A subtle crushed stone scent emerges with time. The palate is well balanced with a saline entry and just the right amount of piquancy. A very saline, marine-influenced finish that gets the mouth salivating. It just cries out for a heaving platter of shucked oysters! 93-95points

Bright yellow colour with green hue. Sophisticated nose with expressive fruit reminiscent of ripe apricots and peaches, cloudberry jam, honey and white blossoms, subtle oak in the background. On the palate excellent structure, depth and length with ripe citrus fruit and yellow stone fruit, fine salinity adding freshness, crisp acidity yet creamy texture and convincing length. An impressing and great classic wine.
