The Story

Olivier Bernard's extensive project at Domaine de Chevalier has really come to fruition. After a bold and not to mention expensive re-planting program throughout the `80s and then a decade and a half of patience for the vines to gain maturity, we can really see the benefits. 2005, 2008, 2009 and now 2010 rank amongst the very best wines produced in this sprawling commune. Powerful but graceful, true to their terroir, and just so enjoyable to d...

Written Notes

Tasted blind at the Southwold 2012 tasting. The 2012 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc has an intriguing marine influence nose that nods towards Muscadet - well defined with white flower and chalky scents following suit. The palate is fresh and vibrant, well balanced and quite rounded in the mouth, easing down with a chalky, more linear finish. I suspect this has gone into its shell, ergo my parsimonious score vis-a-vis out of barrel, but in my experience, Domaine de Chevalier rewards long-term bottle age and I expect that score to float upwards with time. Tasted January 2016.

Brilliant pale gold.
Intense nose of fresh citrus fruit, white peach and exotic fruit. Gravely soil notes are also very present with menthol and flinty flavors.
On the palate very pure and straight wine showing a great and unctuous richness perfectly balanced by fruit and soil acidity. Feeling of sweetness traducing perfect ripeness of the fruit. Very long finish.
Precise and balanced wine with concentration and very high class style.
Authentic wine.

Tasted three times - last time in October 2015. Consistent notes. Fine aromatic nose of apple and acacia, lush palate with excellent acidity, fine balance, smooth aftertaste. Great complexity and sophisticated touch. Stunning wine for the vintage.

Pale lemon yellow. Apples, grapefruit, minerals, pure and nuanced nose. Fresh acidity, creamy texture, elegant and nuanced, lovely structure, refined and long, magnificent. 95
