The Story

La Mission Haut Brion is situated in Bordeaux' southern suburb, Talence. From 1919 and until 1983, it was Woltner family, who had owned this property. Under Woltner's reign, La Mission Haut Brion experienced one of its greatest period with string of fine vintages and was considered then as fully on the level with First Growths and sometimes even better than these. Written Notes

Seduced nicely with its elegant and sophisticated approach. Not quite the arch-typical La Mission and for me a bit lighter and less deep than vintages 2001 and 2002. One to keep for 15-18 years from now on

Deep ruby, garnet rim. Somewhat floral over some prunes, cassis, minerals, vanilla and almost smoky notes. Scented with air. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, elegant palate, mouthwatering and surprisingly fresh for 2003. Structure is calming down and finding itself, this is turning out lovely with enough air. Very long finish.
