The Story

Léoville Poyferré has 80 hectares of vineyards planted with Cabernet Sauvignon (65%), Merlot (25%), Petit Verdot (8%) and Cabernet Franc (2%).

Léoville Poyferré traditionally produced the softest and most supple wine of the 3 Léovilles, yet in the last decade the wines have definitely put on weight and body. Written Notes

I tasted this wine in April 2024.The nose revealed intense aromas of blackcurrants, graphite, and tobacco. On the palate, it was splendid, exhibiting vibrancy and complexity, with refined, silky tannins. The wine had superb structure, remarkable acidity, and well-integrated oak, leading to a long, mineral finish. It is an exceptional effort.

Très grande réussite, aromatique typique du secteur des Léoville (cèdre et fruits noirs) et dans ce millésime la densité d’un grand cru de Pauillac. Magnifique grain
de tannin : c’est l’une des stars du millésime.

Dark purple colour with violet hue and almost black core. Well structured nose with ripe fruit, blackcurrants, blackberries and discreet floral hints. Elegant spiciness, hints of liquorice. Fine toasting and subtle oak. On the palate well balanced with good mid palate and excellent length, elegant yet very persistent with almost silky tannins.
