The Story

The result of rigorous selection at each stage of production, in both the vineyard and the winery, this great, predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon wine is typical of the Saint-Estèphe appellation. This may not be such a gloriously garlanded bordeaux vintage as the 1928 and 1929 but this wine was extremely rich and still very lively. Excellent deep crimson with a pale rim. Hint of cough medicine and coffee with great sweetness giving an overall impression of an iron hand in a velvet glove. Very slightly dry on the edges but still has much more fruit than the Montroses from the 1940s. Still masses of life and vigour here.
