The Story

Primarily blended with classic Bordeaux grapes, our Verruzzo – which means small wild boar - is clearly part of the Terra di Monteverro and Monteverro family and shares the same genes. At the same time, it also reflects the Italian wine tradition of Sangiovese and thus embodies the terroir of the best soils of the Maremma.
The dynamic character of the most important grape in Italy is combined with the power and structure of Cabernet Sauvignon, the aromatics of Cabernet Franc and the softness of Merlot, all united in a red wine full of aromas, Italian character and elegance.

Wine Information

The 2014 winter was quite wet, this helped refill the water table, as did the winter of 2013.The growing season was relatively similar to the previous year, with a mild and balanced growing season. The main difference was nicer weather in May/June that helped an even flowering. Finally, the month of September was quite ”cold“ but not as rainy as other parts of Tuscany.
This protected the acidity and helped us find the perfect date of harvest for each varietal(around Sept. 10
th for the Merlot and from Sept. 20th to Oct. 7th for the other varietals).
