The Story

Description: The traditional Tempranillo variety is the basis of Coronas, ennobled with a small proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon.

Origin: Coronas has been and continues to be a silent testimony to our history. The Torres family decided to make this wine more than 100 years ago, combining the varietals of Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon. Today its quality is recognised in more than 120 countries across the world.

Tasting Notes: Coronas is unmistakable for its intense colour and lush aromas of cherry and black plums on a background of green coffee. It is aged in oak barrels to achieve a soft, rounded sensation on the palate with a big finish

Serving suggestions: Ideal with red meats, creamy cheeses and traditional paellas. Serve at 17-18ºC

Rioja: Hot, dry weather throughout the summer set the stage for ripe, deeply flavored wines that tend to be low-acid and fruit-forward, with round tannins that will ensure positive aging over at least the coming decade.

Written Notes

The torrid Tempranillo is the basis of Coronas, blended with a small proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon. Tempranillo is a traditional Spanish grape, known locally around Catalonia as UII de Llebre, the hare's eye. Tempranillo produces a wine rich in alcohol, with moderate acids, and attractive aromatics of black plum, cherries and raspberry. It ages well and gracefully. A complex and flavoursome red with alluring scents and a complex, fruit driven palate, well suited to grilled meats and spicey meatballs, paella, biting cheese and designer pizza.
