The Story

With an annual production of 10,000 bottles a year, Y (pronounced "ee-grek" in French) is a rare wine. It is made from the same outstanding terroir and the same vines as Château d'Yquem. Although work in the vineyard is every bit as meticulous, the grapes are picked and the wine made in a different way.

Y was formerly made at the end of the harvest, with the last bunches left on the vines. These grapes, affected to varying degrees by B...

Vintage 2016

Bordeaux 2016 in review “A paradox”

by Andrew Caillard MW

The 2016 Bordeaux vintage will be remembered as one of the great years of the 21st century. I haven't been this excited about the prospects of wines this young since the remarkable 2009 and 2010 vintages. Good looking normal size bottle. Colour is green-yellow and light. On the nose it is open, youthful, intense, fresh, charming and pure. The taste is fresh, focused, fragrant, elegant, fruity, and dry, and high in acidity, medium-bodied, with perfectly balanced structure and youthful. On the palate it is layered and has citrus, mineral, white fruits and herbs flavours. The finish is long, lingering, pure, flavorful and vibrant. This wine is fine and impressive. Perfectly stored bottles are still very worthy and will last well for another 10-15 years.
