The Story

The pleasure derived from tasting Yquem is difficult to describe.

It offers a myriad of well-balanced, complex flavours that generate even more harmonies over time. The impression that remains is reminiscent of a quote from Frédéric Dard "the silence that follows a piece by Mozart, in which the listener remains suffused with the music". This reflects the fact that Château d'Yquem stays on the palate for a remarkable long time, providing a u...

Protected by kings

Château d’Yquem’s first harvest took place three hundred years earlier, in 1593, when Jacques de Sauvage purchased the estate from the crown. Written Notes

A rich and very ripe old Sauternes. Lots of honey. It is very mature. Quite alluring in the nose but a little more tired in the palate. Looking very good for a wine of this age from a lesser vintage.

Very top shoulder fill. Golden with amber hue, overripe strawberries, apricots, caramel, some cigar or sweet tobacco, floral notes in the back. Fresh acidity, some sweetness left, light body, quite elegant and nice balance, lacks some complexity and length. 87

Dark amber. In the nose, there was fine and noble botrytis and toffee and sherry on the palate. Fruit acidity had signs of advanced age, but balance didn't suffer from this. This was a splendid wine without much fuss. It will keep for 4-6 more years.

Light golden colour. Elegant nose with tropical ripe fruits and vanilla tones. Medium-sweet, elegant palate with fresh tropical fruitiness, less complex but balanced and long finish. Harmonious and perfumy style.
