Bordeaux: Harvest started September 18th. Good yield, wines were light but elegant. The Spring of 1870 had been impacted by one of the coldest winters on record in the region, where temperatures dropped to -14C and the Garonne river was frozen solid. The growing season began late as a result, with irregular ripening.
