A vintage that is often described as too tannic and harsh, and in many cases this is true. There are however a number of wines that have been very attractive and charming in recent times, I was particularly impressed by Mouton and Latour. It shows that the harsh tannic wines of Bordeaux will often come if one only has the patience to wait.

Classic and rich wines. The best are always good.

Ideal growing season, with warm spring weather without major problems, followed by a long hot summer with some rainy periods at the right times.A very good quality abundant harvest which, if it had been done with our current knowledge of thinning and temperature controlled fermentation, would have been excellent.

In the midst of the economic crisis, the famous Bacchic brotherhood La Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin was created to share and promote Burgundy wines.

Port Vintage : Declared by some of the leading Port producers (some choosing to declare 1935 instead), 1934 was an exceptional vintage, with powerful and well-structured wines. The wines are superb now, still showing structure and plenty of flavour. If cellared well, the best wines could last for a few more decades.
