Vintage 2020

In Bordeaux, the heat led to early flowering. Additionally, this led to an early harvest after a very hot summer. As a starting point, there is great maturity in the grapes, and we can expect a more opulent vintage than in recent years.

This year's summer was the hottest since 1959, but the rain fell at just the right time during the growing season. The harvest took place two weeks before the norm and will produce grapes with high alcohol potential and the lowest acidity since the 2003 vintage. As they say in Bordeaux: “It was a good and extreme growing season which , hopefully, also produces great wines.”

2020 Carillon d’Angelus 94p
Tasted in November 2021. Barrel sample. It was the first vintage made in the new cellar. Fresh and aromatic, creamy, elegant, complex and silky, velvety tannin, vivid and well-structured, lingering finish. 94p.

2020 Carillon d’Angelus
APR 21 90M 10CF Ruby. Floral, scented, blackberries, detailed, fragrant nose, blueberries and light vanilla notes. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, dark fruits, anise, structured, some coffee, more power on the palate than the refined and scented nose suggests, long finish. Ca PH 3,6 and 14,5% alcohol. About 60% new wood and 40% one year old barrique. 92-94

  • 94p

Dark purple colour with violet hue and black core. Aromatic nose with distinct character, ripe blackberries and mulberries, juicy plums and hints of wild strawberries, flowery components in the background, mild spices with a hint of cardamom, white pepper and vanilla. On the palate well balanced with perfectly matured tannins, great elegance and precision, repeating the fruit flavour of the nose, achieving a Grand Cru Classé level. Great wine.
