The Story

The Gruaud Larose terroir is truly remarkable and unique. It is a single vineyard of 80 hectares with gravels from the Gironde estuary, dating from the Mindel Ist and Mindel IInd (about 700 000 years ago), and that in some places are over 18 feet deep. The soil is very poor and sandy, and therefore does not hold water. Written Notes

Château Gruaud-Larose 1929 / 97 points / Fine garnet red with brick red hue. Elegant nose with perfectly ripe character, discreet smoky start and opulent character, vanilla and hints of dried fruits but still with a wonderful freshness. A wine with excellent depth, elegant aroma of spicy cuban tobacco in the background, slight ethereal character. On the palate elegant but still opulent, excellent depth and length with great sophistication. Very good finish.
