The Story

The Gruaud Larose terroir is truly remarkable and unique. It is a single vineyard of 80 hectares with gravels from the Gironde estuary, dating from the Mindel Ist and Mindel IInd (about 700 000 years ago), and that in some places are over 18 feet deep. The soil is very poor and sandy, and therefore does not hold water. Wine Information

1989 remains memorable. The precocity in maturation and the richness of the grapes were exceptional. A very hot and sunny month of May ensured a rapid development of vegetation. Written Notes

Ruby with garnet rim. Scented, cassis, leather, cool note for the vintage, anise and red berries. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, cassis, letaher, slightly tustic for the vintage, I'm more charmed by it than some fellow tasters, detailed and long. 94
