The Story

Laurent Perrier was founded in 1812 and is still a family run organization, making it the largest family run champagne house.  Chardonnay is the dominant grape variety in the Brut NV and its proportion is unusually high for a non–vintage champagne blend – being double the average and made of wines from more than 55 crus or villages. The nose is fresh and delicate, showing good complexity with its hints of citrus and white fruit.

Written Notes

The Laurent-Perrier NV Brut is a blend of 50% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir and 15% Meunier, and is based on 2009 plus 15-30% reserve wines from two or three vintages. Citrus colored, this signature LP has a refined, fresh and elegant nose with brioche and delicate citrus flavors. Lean, refined and elegant on the palate, this is a dry and silky textured, vivacious, and perfectly fresh and balanced aperitif Champagne. It does not have the opinion-dividing thrill and tension of the Ultra Brut, but will probably find more friends.

Light elegant palate nice balanced finish , lemony fruit, lightish fizz good green apply finish. This is a fresh, lean and focussed style, an ideal aperitif with nice mature notes on the finish. One of the best NV Champagnes. 50% Ch 35% P.N. 15% P.M

P: austere, lack of fruit, gluey E: iron-like palate In a nutshell: dull and one-dimensional Final verdict: have another bottle instead
