The idea of Grand Siècle was born from a simple observation: that nature would never provide the perfect oenological year, but that thanks to the art of assemblage, Laurent-Perrier could in fact create it.
Going well beyond rare vintages, Grand Siècle is created choosing not one but three exceptional years which complement each other perfectly. We must then wait for at least 8 years of ageing in our cellars before it can be enjoyed.

Parker: This is the new super-luxury cuvee of Laurent Perrier's Grand Siecle. Tightly knit and loaded with fruit, it exhibits tiny bubbles, and a medium-bodied, elegant style. It needs 3-6 more months of bottle age and should last for 12-15 years. 94 points

Severe winter temperatures and spring frosts did great damage, leaving many in the region unhopeful of a good year. The destruction was excessive especially in the northern Montagne de Reims, in the hillside vineyards west of Reims and in the Aube. The early summer weather did not raise the hopes, but finally fine September weather came to the rescue and yields ended up being better than feared (albeit tiny, 6,827 kg/ha) when picking commenced...

TASTINGNOTE Provad på flaska. På den amerikanska marknaden är Grand Siècle alltid en årgångschampagne. I Europa är 85:an det första exemplet. Vinet är mycket likt den årgångslösa varianten med blommor och vanilj som ledande toner. Det finns dock en större tyngd i 85:an som lovar gott inför framtiden.
