The Story

Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Rosé Millésimé is a blend of 70% Pinot Noir (100% “Grands Crus”), part of which (12%) is red wine from the vineyards of Bouzy, and 30% Chardonnay grapes.

Written Notes

The 1971 vintage in Champagne followed a challenging growing season with cool weather and intermittent rainfall during the summer. Careful vineyard selection and strict sorting at harvest were essential to achieve quality fruit. The best wines from the vintage show finesse, lively acidity and a refined structure that has allowed them to age gracefully over time.

Deep copper-rose with amber reflections, showing beautiful maturity. The bouquet is complex and evocative, offering aromas of dried strawberry, blood orange and rose petal layered with notes of toasted brioche, candied citrus peel and subtle truffle. On the palate the wine is silky and harmonious, with a delicate mousse and flavours of wild red berries, baked apple and orange marmalade. Mature acidity still provides lift and balance, leading to a long, savoury finish marked by gentle spice, nutty complexity and lingering mineral nuances. A rare and beautifully evolved vintage rosé Champagne.
