Barbaresco 2009 was very aromatic from the start, with focused smoky, floral aromas. A wine with great finesse, very precise tannins, and yet powerful. An excellent, long finish. A quintessential Nebbiolo from Piemonte: tannic but elegant, and flavors of rosepetals and rosehip.

Gaja Barbaresco 2009 / Viscous deep purple colour. Closed, but a little bit raisiny and steely on the nose. Still young and not yet harmonized on the palate, with some oak grip still apparent. But the balance is there and suggests ageworthiness. Too young to drink now with real pleasure. 2020–2025+ 93 points

Bright, moderately pale tawny red colour. Vibrant floral nose with brambles, cherries, spices and a touch of waxiness. Racy acidity with soften tannins give a vivid structure to the wine. Sweet fruit flavours of root vegetables and ripe cherries. Silky long aftertaste is highlighted by floral aromas.
