THE WORLD OF WINE HAS SPOKEN – THE BEST WINES IN THE WORLD HAVE BEEN VOTED!
An astonishing 3,398,654 votes were cast from 129 countries
The voting for the BWW2025 – Best Wine of the World competition has officially concluded. An astonishing 3,398,654 votes were cast from 129 countries around the globe. A remarkable 76% of the votes came from wine professionals.
A total of 19,455 wines received votes, and the difference between the most-voted wine and the one ranked 1000th was a mere 6,540 votes — making this year’s race tighter than ever before. To reach the finals, a wine had to receive votes from at least 5,000 professionals.
Here's how the global voting broke down:
-
42% from the United States
-
33% from Europe
-
9% from Australia
-
8% from Asia
-
The remaining from other parts of the world
The finalists – the top wines in each category – will be blind-tasted twice by a panel of 18 expert judges from 10 countries.
BWW isn’t just the largest wine competition in the world, it’s also the most demanding: only 0.5% of all entries receive an award.
Perhaps somewhat surprisingly, the most votes in the competition went to Penfolds Grange 2020. Close on its heels, just a few hundred votes behind, was Harlan Estate 2021, securing second place. Dom Pérignon 2015 rounded out the top three.
The world’s best wine will be crowned at the grand final held in August/September.
Congratulations to all the top performers – and best of luck to the finalists!
