100 Best Champagnes for 2020

Dom Pérignon is a winner again!

After winning a number of pole positions in previous years, Dom Pérignon won the jackpot again- The 2020 winner is Dom Pérignon 2008

FINE Champagne magazine, the only international publication devoted to champagne and tastingbook.com, the world’s largest wine information source, announce their list of the ‘100 Best Champagnes for 2020’.

After days of blind-tasting hundreds of champagnes, the final results were tabulated. Any champagne making it into the Top 100 in the rigorous tasting by our editorial board and guest specialists can warmly be recommended. Still, there can only be one winner. This year our choice is Dom Pérignon 2008.

Having started life as Moët & Chandon’s prestige cuvée, today Dom Pérignon enjoys an independent position as an icon of champagne. The first vintage of Dom Pérignon, 19521, was launched in 1926.

"Dom Pérignon liberates the 2008 vintage, freeing it from an over-literal interpretation of the canons of champagne." RICHARD GEOFFROY, former Dom Pérignon Chef de Cave.

2008 was dominated by grey, overcast skies – an exception in a decade characterized by bold, generous sunshine. Just when the harvest was getting underway, the weather conditions were finally perfect: blue skies and prolonged north-northeasterly winds. The grapes were riper than anyone dared hope, and had truly outstanding balance. The vines were in perfect health.
To the bracing acidity, concision and aromatic purity expected of the 2008 vintage, Dom Pérignon adds depth, density and complexity.
