An unusually warm spring led to early flowering and initial optimism, which soon gave way to disappointment following one of the murkiest summers on record. Overall, 2007 was a difficult vintage saved by last-minute sunshine in late-August. Mildew and rot were the main culprits of the harvest, and the level of gluconic acid rocketed. Comtes de Champagne 2007
Open nose with a oxidized, yellow apple note that doesn’t reminisce of Comtes de Champagne at all. Toasty, sure and spice notes as well but there's a weird marzipan note and lack of minerality. Hopefully just need more time on lees.
Completely disjointed palate with evident dosage, bitter finish, hard acidity and very one dimensional aromatics. As this is a pre release tasting I can only assume that more time on the lees will help this wine become more charming. Lets see in a few years when it’s released.

Faten dominerar fortfarande, ingen Comtes-karaktär har infunnit sig ännu. Men oj vad spännande den parfymerade tonen är.
