Marking the 15th annual edition of this global benchmark selection, Champagne Magazine and Tastingbook.combrought together an elite panel of international critics, sommeliers, and master tasters to establish the definitive ranking for the 100 BEST Champagnes of 2026. Over 400 Champagnes were individually evaluated during the preliminary assessment phase. To guarantee absolute critical impartiality and structural accuracy, the top one hundred candidates were then re-evaluated in a comprehensive, double-blind tasting panel before assigning final scores and establishing the podium.
Celebrating a milestone decade-and-a-half of critical evaluation, the resulting 2026 selection captures an extraordinary moment in Champagne winemaking—highlighting a harmonious dialogue between centuries-old Grandes Marques and revolutionary grower-producers. This year, the overall quality of the Champagnes reached its highest point in 15 years: securing a place in the TOP 50 required a formidable minimum score of 96 points, while the average score for the TOP 50 has climbed by 3.4 points since 2008. Driven by landmark releases from the historic 2008 and 2012 vintages alongside radiant expressions from the warm, generous 2018 harvest, this 15th anniversary list celebrates an era defined by parcel precision, low dosage, and structural purity.
