The Story

The call of faraway lands. As mysterious and intriguing as a lone adventurer returning from a solitary sail, Cos d’Estournel is slow to reveal itself. Written Notes

This vintage in Bordeaux was blessed by sunny weather and incredibly successful at Right Bank, with many magical wines produced. Left Bank wines hadn’t been largely successful. But Cos contradicted this postulate and was a badass wine. Intense on the nose and palate with creamy blackcurrants, mineral, delicate acidity, sweet tannins and great complexity. Vibrant and lovely structure. Long lingering finish.

Ruby with garnet rim, slightly farmyardy first, later blackcurrants and cigars, a much better expression, but not too complex. Medium acidity, ripe tannins, not too much expression, plums and woody high notes, some cedar with even more air, a fresher and leaner style Cos, that I enjoy, even if it lacks some complexity and length for a second growth, at least at this stage. 88
