The Story

The call of faraway lands. As mysterious and intriguing as a lone adventurer returning from a solitary sail, Cos d’Estournel is slow to reveal itself. Little by little, it evokes stories of distant places, market stalls brimming with unfamiliar fruits, spices and wares, village festivities warmed by the joy of revelers and the setting sun, and sumptuous visions of ladies and their voluptuous curves. A myriad of scents, colors and tastes appeal...

Wine Information

2022 is a vintage of myriad emotions: the hallmark opulence of Cos d’Estournel is a magnificent counterpoint to the vintage’s diaphanous quality and a freshness that is somewhat unexpected in light of the year’s unusual weather.

The wine’s characteristic intensity complements a voluptuous aromatic palette that includes the freshness of graphite and white pepper, the elegance of tea, and sweet notes of licorice, cherry, and blackberry.

Good looking normal size bottle and in an perfect condition. Colour is cherry red, and looking clear and youthful. On the nose it is open, complex, seductive and fresh. The taste is fresh, full, voluptuous, robust, fruity, and dry, warming, with high tannin, with drying tannins, and high in acidity, medium-bodied, with perfectly balanced structure and developing. On the palate it is layered and has blackcurrant, mineral, cherry, cedar, floral, herbs and earthy flavours. The finish is endless and pure. This wine is masterpiece. I paid around 200-500€ a bottle. Perfectly stored bottles are still very worthy and will last well for another 20-30 years, decant at least 45min before tasting and this is a good invest wine. Good value for money. I do recommend

Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, intense, detailed, layered, blackberries, cassis, vanilla and spices, layered, long finish. Another excellent effort from Cos d'Estournel.

Unique structure to this wine and very Cos with all the spices and dark fruits. Tobacco and cedar. It's starts off full-bodied and flavorful, but continues to unfold in an energetic and weightless way. Savory and primary. Al dente grapes here. Exciting and thought-provoking. 98-99

Deep purple colour with violet hue and black core.  Excellent nose with ripe and multi-layered fruit, oriental spices, fine aromatic herbs in the background. Hints of dark chocolate and fine toasting. On the palate rich with elegance, ripe tannins and sweet fruit, fine liquorice and hints of spices, very well structured with excellent length and complex finish.
