The Story

The wine-growing village of Flagey-Échezeaux lies in the " Plain ", so-called, between Vougeot and Vosne-Romanée in the Côte de Nuits. Facing east, the Grands-Échezeaux vines are a prolongation of Musigny following the North-South axis of the Côte, but more regular and less broken in their layout. Vintage 1993

In Burgundy 1993, an early flowering in the month of June, was followed by a wet early July before a hot dry August. The reds of 1993 are outstanding. Written Notes

The 1993 G. Jayer Echezeaux was spectacular.  It got a ‘Deep Ocean’ from me.  Long live Big Boy lol.  This was a rich and smooth wine that oozed decadence.  There was more of that purple rain goodness along with ‘incredible concentration, color and intensity.’  This was a lip smacker of a wine that got another decadent from me, along with heavy (97).

Pale ruby, thin brick rim. So clean, so pure, touch of white chocolate, fresh vanilla, wild strawberries, pure essence, such eleganse, focus and perfection, roses, violets, jasmin, caprifolium, like a nordic garden in a fresh summer night. Lean and tender body, but what intense flavours, great acidity, youthfull feel still. Extremelly elegant again, complex, transparent and tender at the same time, absolutely fantastic length. 98
