The Story
Cuvée Louise was created in 1979, but as Madame Pommery would have demanded, this prestige cuvee is a product of the very best plots in the Pommery vineyards, reserved specifically for it. In the tradition of Pommery Nature 1874, Cuvée Louise is the only special cuvee with so little sugar.
Thus the wine naturally expresses its exceptional purity. Behind this apparent simplicity are unique processes at each stage of its elaboration that ensure that Cuvée Louise is the quintessence of the House style.
Vintage Pommerys never let you down, and the prestige wine Cuvée Louise pays Madame Pommery the homage she deserves. Our favourite, however, is the fantastically delicate and subtly mineral Cuvée Louise Rosé, which is an unfortunately rare find. It only makes up five per cent of Cuvée Louise’s production.
The Cuvée Louise vineyard, made up exclusively of the top three Grands Crus: Avize and Cramant for the Chardonnays and Aÿ for the Pinot Noir. Vines on the mid-hillside, vines in the air and vines upland… the plots of land in the Cuvée Louise vineyard are selected both for their location at the heart of the terroir, their performance over the years and the rich aroma of their grapes. And by their nature, they most faithfully convey the subtlety of the Pommery style.

Wine Information
Its colour of a nice tender pale yellow which illuminates with great delight the glass, highlights its strength of bubbles ascending without discontinuity up to the surface of the wine to spread and be replaced by others even finer ones. On the nose, the wine then expresses, without any detour and without any equivocation, all its lightness and delicacy making appear a subtle minerality of the aromas of white flowers, yeasts but also white fleshed fruit one would like to crunch.
Without further ado, we are driven by a longing to make it touch the palate, where great enthusiasm arises, since the wine deploys a silky and fine effect. It embraces the palate with grace and elegance. The purity perceived on the nose finds all its expression in the mouth. Everything is adjusted with the precision of a millimetre, harmony is perfect, the floral freshness is wonderfully associated with all these hints of prunes and white peaches. Vintage 2006
A cold winter and springtime frosts laid the foundations for this vintage of abundant yields (12,997 kg/ha). Uneventful flowering was followed by exceptionally hot and sunny weather, which lasted until August. A dank August left producers fearful but fortunately warm, bright conditions in September redressed the balance. Harvest commenced on September 9th, producing grapes high in sugar level but notably low on acidity. The general health of the grapes was sufficient, producing wines which excel over the preceding 2005 vintage, another warm and ample year. The year's greatest wines are supple and expressive and despite the richness they escape being overly heavy. Overt and welcoming upon launch, the best come with excellent capacity for ageing. Winey, and richly fruity characters, most Champagnes regrettably miss some tension and finesse. Wines of the vintage include Taittinger Comtes de Champagne, Krug Vintage and Dom Pérignon Rosé.
