The Story

La Mission Haut Brion is situated in Bordeaux' southern suburb, Talence. From 1919 and until 1983, it was Woltner family, who had owned this property. Under Woltner's reign, La Mission Haut Brion experienced one of its greatest period with string of fine vintages and was considered then as fully on the level with First Growths and sometimes even better than these. In 1983, owners of Haut Brion purchased La Mission Haut Brion and today its Jean...

Vintage 2015

Full report of Bordeaux 2015 by Andrew Caillard MW “Next in line in a great series of vintages; 2000, 2005, 2009, 2010 and 2015.

2015 is a wonderful Bordeaux vintage without the hype or hysteria associated with 2009 and 2010. The wines are generally expressive and generous with wonderful concentration and structure. Given another year in barrel, the wines should gain more complexity and fruit volume. Châteaux, in all sub-regions, are e...

The purity in this wine is really mindblowing. So perfect. Licorice. Stone. Blackberry, blueberry. Full body. The power is amazing. But then it finishes etheral and so agile and beautiful. I am lost for words. This will rank with the best ever from here including 1975 and 1929. 58% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc.

015 La Mission Haut Brion - 58% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Cabernet Franc, alcohol reached 15.1%. It had aromatic cherries all-over, very aromatic nose, excellent acidity, striking elegance, sophisticated touch and velvety texture. Great complexity and long finish. More sweetness in fruit here than in 2014 and this wine can further improve. Beauty wine. 95+p.

Dark purple red with violet hue and black core. Elegant nose, slowly opening up, mulberries, elderberries and blackberries, hints of graphite, roasting aroma, hints of dark chocolate in the background. On the palate well structured with excellent tension and balance, ripe tannins, full-bodied with great length.

Deep colour. Attractive dark plum, dark chocolate paneforte aromas with herb notes. Rich and chocolaty with deep set dark plum, elderberry fruit, fine chocolaty textures and mocha oak. Generous and vigorous with inky density and brambly dry aldente finish. Elemental but impressive with high pigmentation. 97 points

La Mission Haut Brion Pessac Leognan - 58% Merlot 7% Cabernet Franc 35% Cabernet Sauvignon Very deep right to the rim, sweet fruit on the nose, almost toffee chocolate, wonderful aromatics, as expected great texture, full on the palate, creamy, lowish acidity but the balance overall comes through brilliantly on the finish, very long and dusty a triumph here. This comes across a bit more open and extroverted than the Haut Brion, there really is very little between them this year. 96-98/100, 2025-2050
