The nose is evolved but shows an expanded range of flavors: red fruit jam and kernel fruits, lily, smoke and chocolate. Advanced aromas are also sensitive: parchment, undergrowth, rust.

The attack is a little tired. The mid-palate is fleshy and rich. The tannic structure is very well defined and a remarkable freshness gives the wine a long and incredible precision.

Written Notes

The 1934 Cheval Blanc has a deep mahogany color. The bouquet is hypnotic; scents of cedar and mint infuse fruit that leans toward the Left Bank, implying that there was a good percentage of Cabernet in the blend. The palate is beautifully balanced, displaying a fine seam of acidity, veins of orange zest and a black currant pastille note toward the riveting finish. This is a magnificent wine, and bottles with sound provenance will still give pleasure. Profound.

Chr. Stausholm bottling (Denmark) and cork stated Stausholm as well. Top shoulder fill. Garnet with brick/ orange rim. Coffee, anise, leather, redcurrant's, cigars, cassis, hint of herbs, sweet tones and ripe notes. Fresh acidity, tannins nearly gone, rich texture, elegant even so, very mature, long length.
