Written Notes

Cheval Blanc: 51% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Franc, and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon. 12.7% alcohol (!). Historically, a tiny yield of 15 hl/ha due to climatic conditions! No second wine (Petit Cheval). In 2025, 46 of 47 plots were excellent and entered Grand Vin. Tasted with Cheval Blanc’s cellarmaster, Carole Andre. It’s a powerful wine with a strong backbone, juicy and sophisticated to the core, with a fabulous midpalate, depth, and length. Juicy and vibrant. Unlimited potential! 99-100p.

  • 100p

Deep dark ruby garnet, opaque core, violet reflections, delicate edge brightening. Intense black forest berries, a hint of juniper, herbs and tobacco, blueberries, candied mandarin zest, very multi-faceted bouquet. Full-bodied, highly elegant, ripe heart cherries, finesse-rich structure, seamless, perfect tannins, a highly delicate wine with enormous length, immense minerality, designed for a long ageing period, a hint of nougat in the finish, an enormous promise for the future.

  • 100p

A very small harvest with only 55.000 bottles produced. Dark purple colour with violet hue and black core. Elegant nose with fine floral character, peonies and blackcurrant spurs, ripe plums and black cherries, blackberries and hints of blackcurrants in the background. On the palate well structured with ripe tannins, fine acidity and ripe fruit, fine tension and excellent length. Balanced with freshness and tension, excellent.
