The Story

Les Forts de Latour is the second wine of the infamous Chateau Latour ; a world renowned French wine estate, located in Pauillac, in the Medoc region of Bordeaux, France. Latour is in the north-west of Bordeaux, sharing a border with Saint-Julien, a stone’s throw away from the banks of the Gironde estuary.

Written Notes

Deep and dark with a ton of smoke and earth, the cassis fruit very much in the background, this is a concentrated and complex wine. Powerful yet racy palate with an elegant mineral finish. Drink or hold.

Les Forts de Latour is a classic Pauillac with intense blackcurrant/ cedar/ lead pencil aromas, plenty of juicy mulberry/ cassis fruit, fine granular tannins and sustained flavours. This could easily be a second Growth wine this year.

Tasted three times - last time in April 2016. Consistent notes. It was immensely seductive with plenty of dark cherries and blackcurrants swimming in high quality chocolate. Stunning balance and long caressing aftertaste completed this beauty of a wine. What a treat!
