A perfect illustration of Maison Henriot’s mastery of the assemblage, this cuvee is composed in equal parts of pinot noir and chardonnay, conferring elegance on its complex structure. Produced with respect for family tradition, this cuvee - which comes exclusively from Champagne’s Grands Crus - is made only in exceptional years.

Winter and spring were fairly mild. Inflorescences began in good weather in June. Already during the next month, the cloud masses swarmed to the Champagne province. Initially weak, but beautiful nose of white flowers, acacia, toffee, and vanilla. Light to medium-bodied taste with fine freshness, breeding, and elegance. Today its strength is just beginning to appear. Incredibly splendid! Totally brilliant recently, with an increased fattiness and buttery concentration of all the vanilla aromas and beautifully floral perfume. This is a sort of Champagne of Champagnes—a more classic, typical representative of this type of wine does not exist.

Surprisingly open but youthful and intense nose filled with green fruit, apples, lime, sour mango, roasted nuts and a pronounced minerality. Ads a bit more depth over the course of a couple of hours but stays more or less the same.
Medium bodied, concentrated and very very racy palate that is much more closed than the nose. The green fruit is here with apples, lime, a touch of florality, nuts and minerals. Very focused and precise but a bit boring and uninteresting today. Needs plenty more time in magnum. I have however, never seen huge greatness in this wine.
