The Story

More than any other, Rosé Champagne is a wine of great emotion: by virtue of its unique blend, and its distinctive colour, which seems to encapsulate joy itself. We are captivated by its immediate charm before delving into its hidden depths.

Laurent Fresnet refers to it as a principle rather than a provocation. ‘‘For Henriot, the colour is not important in the creation of rosé
wine, while well-balanced organoleptic structure is essential.’...

Wine Information

Rosé Millésimé 2008 is a well-structured cuvée with lovely concentrated aromas of ripe red fruit. Typical of the vintage, it will be ideal for aperitif as well as with fruit desserts.

The year began with a mild winter followed by a cool, dry autumn. A rainy period ensued until June. The flowering took place in mid-June for the three Champagne grape varieties. The good weather arrived just before the harvest, which accelerated the matur...

Vintage 2008

2008 -The Champagne vintage set to make history!

A first taste of leading winemakers’ 2008 champagnes reveals a miraculous vintage, bubbling with potential, which – whisper it – might just prove the greatest in living memory.

2008 was not, by any standards, a vintage year for the financial world. And for the greater part of it, 2008 was a pretty poor year for Champagne too: spring was freezing, summer gloomy and overcast. But then, aroun...

Written Notes

A blend of 60 percent Chardonnay, 40 percent Pinot Noir, with a dollop of still Pinot Noir to provide the color. A mix of Grand and Premier Cru vineyards. Has there been a poor champagne from the 2008 vintage? I’m beginning to think not. And this is yet another stunner.

Delicate and fragrant, yet with a steely undertow of considerable power. Red fruits, notably raspberries. Wonderfully elegant, has focus and great length. There is a pleasing savory note to this champagne – subtle, restrained, delicate, and with that understated power. Superb. 95.

Alcohol 12%. A fine vein of bubbles, yet strong acidity and toast, with watering acidity. This is pleasantly chalky with a clean finish. A youthful vintage but is building ripe, bottle-aged flavors with good body. ***(*) Now – 2023.
