The Story

Bollinger La Grande Année Rosé is an alternative expression of La Grande Année, transformed by the addition, at blending, of the unique red wine from La Côte aux Enfants. The emblematic single plot of the House, located in Aÿ, produces still red wine only when the grapes reach perfect ripeness. After vinification in small aged oak barrels and a prolonged ageing on its lees, even today every bottle of La Grande Année Rosé is riddled and disgorg...

Wine Information

Madame Bollinger agreed to a Bollinger rosé under one condition, it had to be extraordinary, and that is how La Grande Année Rosé was born: The unique blend between a great vintage champagne and a red wine from a unique plot, the legendary Côte aux Enfants. Vintage 2002

A cold winter and a mild late spring cued for a perfect June allowing early and fast flowering. Outstanding weather conditions prevailed and the season went on without dramatic turns. Written Notes

Moderately intense, salmon red colour. Rich, toasty nose with buttescotch, red fruits and apples – hints of oxidative character. Dry and firm, rich, vivid and crisp palate with long mineral finish. The complex palate shows fresh red fruits and some brioche flavours. Very focused and concentrated finish.

Bollinger Grand Année Rosé 2002 Open and toasty with roasted brioche, ripe red berries, red apples and roasted nuts but also quite developed notes of mushrooms. Sweet and concentrated, ripe red berry fruit up front which turns into more dry and fresh mid-palate and ads a more developed notes of nuts and mushrooms on the long finish. Powerful but a bit funky development. Now-2020? 92p
