Flowers, chocolate, dried raspberries, cherries, spice, citrus, and a background note of truffle create the aromatic profile. On the palate, it is interesting to note the viscosity, coupled with freshness, length, and purity. There is an elegance that allows the purity in the berries to already express themselves. The velvet-textured finish, with its spices, chocolate, plums, and cherries stays with you for at least 60 seconds. The wine is per...

Written Notes

Pétrus 2024 shows a deep garnet-purple core with bright violet hues, announcing both purity and youthful energy. The nose is intensely expressive and layered, starting with ripe blackcurrant, blueberry, and raspberry fruits intertwined with hints of wild strawberry and subtle floral accents (violet and rose). Underneath the fruit lies a savory complexity of tobacco leaf, graphite, bitter orange, and resinous herbs, with delicate spice and a trace of iodine adding nuance.

On the palate this is a medium-to-full-bodied Merlot-based wine with seamless texture and a beautifully balanced core of juicy dark berries. Silky, cashmere-like tannins frame flavors of blackberry, plum, and dark cherry, while bright yet integrated acidity brings lift and clarity. Mineral tension—saline and crushed stone—adds structure and precision, and subtle oak spice (vanilla and clove) enriches the mid-palate without overwhelming. The mouthfeel is velvety and refined, building in complexity as it evolves.

The finish is long and pure, lingering with layers of berry compote, spice, gentle earth, and floral echoes. There’s an elegant, tactile persistence with fruit and savory nuance that tapers gracefully.

Overall, Pétrus 2024 is elegant, detailed, and harmonious, emphasizing finesse and precision over sheer power. It marries expressive fruit with refined structure and luxurious texture, making it enjoyable relatively early for a Pomerol of this caliber, yet built for long-term evolution.

Dark purple colour with violet hue and black core. Very elegant nose with fine fruit, blackberries, blackcurrants, elderberries, hints of blackcurrant spurs, fine hints of vanilla and mild spices, a whiff of oak in the background, very well-balanced. On the palate an exceptional rich wine for its vintage, velvety tannins, opulent fruit with dark berries quoting the nose complemented by a whiff of violets. Wonderful sweetness in the finish, a great wine, a star of the vintage.
