The 2015 Petrus is a standout vintage, showcasing a deep, dense ruby color with a brilliant clarity. On the nose, it exudes an aromatic richness of ripe blackberries, cassis, and plums, complemented by nuances of truffle, cedar, and a hint of violets.

The palate is exceptionally full-bodied and opulent, featuring velvety tannins and a luxurious, seamless texture. Flavors of dark fruit are layered with elements of dark chocolate, espresso, and a touch of spice. The wine’s impeccable balance and fresh acidity enhance its complexity and depth.

The finish is remarkably long and elegant, with a refined blend of fruit and earthy undertones. The 2015 Petrus is a superbly crafted wine, demonstrating both immediate allure and impressive aging potential.

Powerful and brooding as a young wine from barrel, the 2015 Pétrus has developed exquisite finesse and nuance to play off its natural concentration. Winemaker Oliver Berrouet has always spoken of small berry size as one of the signatures of 2015. To be sure, there is plenty of textural richness and overall intensity. At the same time, the 2015 exudes tons of freshness and vibrancy. Berrouet gave the 2015 18 months in French oak, 50% new. Quite simply, the 2015 is a stratospheric wine with a very bright future.

The 2015 Petrus is undoubtedly one of the gems in the vintage and will probably merit a perfect score in another decade. Even so, it has the sexy, exotic nature of the vintage front and center and offers a huge perfume of black currants, kirsch liqueur, Asian spices, and incense. As always, this beauty is 100% Merlot that was brought up in 50% new wood in 2015. A wine that opens up beautifully with time in the glass, it has beautiful mid-palate depth, sweet, sweet tannins, and voluptuous yet weightless texture that needs to be tasted to be believed. Hide bottles for 4-5 years, count yourself lucky, and enjoy over the following 3-4 decades.

A seductive nose of violets, sweet spices and blackberries. A gorgeous Petrus that is subtle, generous and caressing on the palate. Layers of cocoa beans, exotic spices mingle with plush, velvety tannins - there is a lot of upfront and mid palate sweetness in this wine. The wine manages to be medium weight despite being incredibly concentrated and intense. Lingering finish.

This is not a powerful or intense bouquet, but beguilingly pretty. It is crystalline and I detected more mineralité than in recent vintages, perhaps because there is less puppy fat. The palate is beautifully balanced, completely harmonious, underpinned by filigree tannin that assert a sense of focus and linearity until two-thirds of the way along, whereupon it fans out while maintaining breathtaking clarity. Touches of cracked black pepper and spice lend this Petrus personality and intrigue. Having tasted most legendary Petrus since the 1940s, and tasted here from barrel since 2002, I can only apologize for being so predictable by claiming that this may well nestle among the likes of the Petrus 1950, 1964, 1989 and 1998. 98-100p

Tasted in April 2016. This is a very sublime wine which clearly benefitted from 4 dry months, April, May, June and July. Harvest was prolonged and finished in the end of September. Subtle, lot of finesse, sophisticated and incredibly complex. Not the most powerful and concentrated vintage of Petrus, but 2015 has stupendous elegance and richness instead.

Dark purple red with violet hue and almost black core. Great nose, initially quite closed, with very elegant and pure fruit, elderberries, blackberries, black cherries, ripe plums, vanilla and hints of roasting aroma, A nose opening up slowly. Complex and rich with persistence and elegance, freshness and hints of minerality. Expressive and juicy fruit, mild spices in the aftertaste. A great wine for Pétrus, opulence, elegance and persistence.

Medium deep colour. Fragrant inky dark plum, dark cherry aniseed aromas with touch of praline, espresso oak. Beautiful concentrated wine with inky dark plum dark cherry fruit, supple vigorous graphite textures, generous smooth yet juicy rich mid palate, cedar mocha oak notes and slinky firm tannin finish. Perfectly balanced and integrated with lovely energy vibrancy and juiciness. A great Ch Petrus in the making. 100 points.

Welcome to the Tastingbook, the world's first intelligent wine-tasting tool and social wine community.

It is easy and fast to use, and I am happy to guide you through it.


1. Start by Signing up and creating your profile

- Add a profile picture and more information about yourselves


2. Next, Create your personal Wine World

- Click iFollow (Discover) from the top menu

- Tastingbook has added automatically into your wine world 5-10 of the most active professionals or Pro's as we call them.

- Search for more pros or other users by typing their name in the search field. Then click into my world to those who you want to include in your wine world. This way, you may be notified when they taste wines or comment on them.

- You can also add wines and wine producers into your wine world. This allows you to access the most up-to-date information about them.


3. Invite your friends to join the tastingbook

- Click your username on the top menu and choose invite

- Type your friends email addresses and click send invites

- You can follow the status of your invitation on the same page


4. Create a tasting and do tasting notes

4.1. Click the New tasting button from the top menu.

- Name the tasting as you wish.

- Set the place and time (You can also add your past tasting notes by just changing the date)

- Click the add new wine button on the right to add new wines to the tasting.

- Now go to the box that says 'Click to add the wine'.

- Start by typing the wine or producer name and select the wine from the list that appears.

- After you have selected the wine, the vintage selection will be opened automatically

- Select the correct vintage by clicking on it.


4.2. Next, click My tasting note box and the worlds most advanced tasting

- From the bottom left of the tasting tool you can select in which language you want to use and view tasting notes.

- just do your wine note by clicking the correct adjectives. The adjectives can be activated by clicking once, or de-activated by clicking again.

- Tastingbook Pros will teach you while you taste wines.

At the bottom of the page in the section Show notes of, you may view notes of the professionals by clicking Pro's. If any of the tastingbook pros have tasted the wine before their opinion will show in the gold colored frames around the adjectives on the tasting view.


4.3. After you have completed your wine note, it's time to give Tb points.

Click the box on the bottom right Give points.
In case you want to add any comment or personal thoughts related to this wine, you may tick the note box next to the scores. In this field you may add copy-pasted texts for instance your old notes, etc.


4.4. After you've completed your notes for all the wines, click Close tasting.

You may now share some general thoughts about the tasting or tasted wines and choose with whom you want share your tasting. Set the Tasting privacy to limit the audience who are able to view your tastings information. We suggest you use Everyone as most of the wine experiences are meant to be shared.

Note:

If a wine that you are tasting is not found in our database, please be kind enough to send us an email to: addwine@thetastingbook.com, please include at least the wine name and producer. We will add the wine in tastingbook within 24 hours.


5. Tastingbook is full of information and stories - how to find them.

Tastingbook is full of information about wines, vintages, and wineries and also has over 30.000 pictures of wines. To best way to find what you are looking for is to browse the site from the Browse field in the top right corner.

You may search for wine, vintage, producer, pros or other community members by typing the name in the browse field. You may then choose from the drop down menu.



If you have any difficulty in navigating the site you may easily get help by clicking the support button on the left side of the page
